Boxing is a sport that involves punching with fists using padded gloves. Footwork and head movement is used more frequently compared to other stand-up martial arts.
Muay Thai is a martial art derived from Thailand also known as the art of eight limbs due to the nature of using elbows and knees on top of the usual punching and kicking.
Strength work helps build core musculature to allow the lower and upper body to work more harmoniously. Conditioning helps athletes push for longer and harder.
Rebel was founded by head coach Melvin in 2012. After training at various gyms, he struggled to find a place that met his needs – not over-commercialised and crowded, where he had the space and freedom to improve his skillset and have a community of individuals with similar goals and aspirations.
Thus he decided to start his own closed-door gym just for fighters looking to compete, this resulted in great success in improving fighter’s skill levels. The new Holland Village premise seeks to extend the same standard of high-quality training to anyone, whether you’re just starting or an experienced athlete in search of more challenges!
Rebel is a great environment for any beginner or advanced martial artist as they offer a wide range of classes which are suitable for any experience level. There are multiple trainers, who are all very experienced and friendly when coaching and giving advice. Coach Melvin, in particular, has given me many helpful tips and personalised padwork/drills that has helped advance my growth and training immensely. Those who frequently attend classes at Rebel are also welcoming and always willing to help out and guide those who are less experienced as well 🙂 I really enjoy classes here, compared to other gyms I have frequented in the past because there is such a strong sense of community and a wealth of knowledge and fighting styles from many different kinds of fighters in the gym. I always end each class having learnt something new!
Being an active person all my life, I realised I needed a more holistic approach to my fitness as I approached my 50s. My priority is being injury free while still achieving a very high level of fitness and agility. This is where joining Rebel has been a perfect fit for me. It has all the components of a well-rounded fitness programme: Agility, high intensity interval training (HIIT), strength and conditioning. Rebel gym, in keeping with its name and philosophy, goes beyond just cardio with plyometrics for the often forgotten fast-twitch muscles. No two session, in all my time with Rebel gym since 2012 when it was in Jurong (and I go 3x per week), has been the same. Some days the focus can be on kettlebells and on others, club-bells. Yet, one of the best things about joining Rebel is meeting like-minded people who are as focused about fitness as the gym owner/coach Melvin.
Definitely a fun place for legit, technical Muay Thai and Boxing training. Training drills are taught in an ambidextrous flowy style with emphasis on creating angles in both movement and striking trajectories instead of the standard orthodox style. Worry not if you’re a beginner as there are trainings catered for all levels where you can learn the basics and progress from there. Sparring sessions are fun and technical too. You will without a doubt see improvements in your skills as you go session to session sparring different people who each has a different fighting style which require you to work out your own tactic to neutralize them. At the end of the day, through learning Muay Thai and/or Boxing, you’ll not only develop a valuable skill in self-defence but it will help build confidence and discipline in a way that nothing else can. Strength and Conditioning Trainings are also available if you’re looking to get in shape. The trainings incorporate various movement based, calisthenics, and also weighted exercises that are definitely thought through and formulated in a way where there is emphasis on not only strength but also speed and coordination. You will get fit and look aesthetic without losing mobility
The benefits of joining a gym are not just limited to physical aspects like better cardiovascular health, strength and weight management. Exercise is also great for the mind, a tough workout releases tons of endorphins which lift the mood and calm you down. Appetite and sleep quality will be enhanced.
Joining a gym will keep you motivated and makes it easier to incorporate exercise as a regular part of your routine. By participating in group classes, training becomes easier and more enjoyable with teammates helping push you on, plus you get to make friends.
If you have specific goals such as weight loss, strength and cardiovascular improvement and want a more personalized programme, one to one personal training is a good option to consider.

We have gloves and shin guards available to use. However, if training for the long term, it is highly recommended that you get your own personal pair for hygiene reasons. Handwraps and mouthpieces are also required. For strength and conditioning, all equipment will be provided. No shoes are required.
We offer a trial day for $20. You can come to any of the beginner and S&C classes for that day to see if the training, coaches and members are suitable for you.
We do not set an age limit because everyone’s physical capability differs. Our oldest member joining our group classes is 58 and our youngest is at 14 so far. Come for the trial to check if you are suitable.
Yes. Personal training allows the coach to create a programme specifically for you. This will allow you to be guided on the proper techniques and see improvements faster. Do contact us through Whatsapp to know more.
For personal training, it is possible. For group classes, everyone needs to follow the given rates to be fair.
Yes. We can travel to your home or club to provide training if its more convenient for you.
