with elbows and knees. For beginners, we will work on fundamentals through shadowboxing,
padwork and occasionally light sparring. To bridge the gap from padwork to sparring,
beginners will do partner drills to help them work towards sparring. For
intermediate and advanced classes, the syllabus will start moving into more complex ambidextrous & unorthodox movements. Sparring will still be kept in flow state with the objective of trading shots at a
controlled pace. Hard sparring will be done once every quarter so members can
test out the effectiveness of what they have been working on.
One of the more beginner friendly sports to get into. Although we tend to move around more in boxing, Rebel takes pride in making our athletes sit down on their punches. Another aspect that makes boxing different from Muay Thai is head movement. While others may argue that footwork and blocking are the most important aspects of defence, we focus more on head movement as pulling, slipping and rolling are more energy efficient and faster to execute. However, nothing beats employing all kinds of techniques into your game. This makes boxing an important part of the Rebel syllabus making every member a more complete fighter.
Rebel’s Strength & Conditioning programme involves a strength portion at the beginning and metabolic conditioning (metcon or HIIT) at the end. Used even by Rebel athletes in preparation for their fights, our focus is on rotation & bodyweight movements that are directly applicable to everyday living and sport. Other workout routines tend to cause injuries especially to the lowerback but our main goal is injury prevention. That is, to strengthen small musculature around joints to prevent unnecessary ligament damage. We use different tools such as kettlebells, clubbells, gym rings, medicine balls, pull up bars, parallettes etc for our workouts. The gym is equipped with dollamur flexi roll mats so complex bodyweight movements can be done safely.
